S. census for 85th District, Union County, Georgia as Sarah Hughs, 4 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Nancy A Bird, William C. Hughes, Francis Hughes, Louisa Hughes, Eleanor C Hughes, Jane Hughes, Rosetta Hughes, Thomas Hughes and John Hughes.4
On 18 June 1860 Sarah Elizabeth Hughes was enumerated in the household of Thomas M Hughes on the 1860 U. S. census for Blairsville Ga Post Office, Blairsville, Union County, Georgia as Sarah Hughes, 13 years old. Attended school within the year. Sarah Elizabeth Hughes married John Wesley Twiggs, son of Willis Twiggs and Margret England, on 20 August 1871 at Union County, Georgia. Marion H Eakes officiated.6
On 14 June 1880 Sarah Elizabeth Hughes was enumerated in the household of John Wesley Twiggs on the 1880 U. S. census for Choestoe District (834), Union County, Georgia as Sallie E Twigs, 33 years old, Wife, Married, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Keeping House. Father born in North Carolina. Mother born in North Carolina. Also enumerated in the household were Edwin P. Twiggs, Nan E Twiggs, Callie Twiggs, Mary Twiggs, L. M. Twiggs and William Frady.7
