     John Wesley Twiggs was also known as Rev John Wesley Twiggs.2 He was born on 31 January 1846 at Union County, Georgia.3,4,5 He was the son of Willis Twiggs and Margret England.4

On 25 October 1850 John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated in the household of Willis Twiggs on the 1850 U. S. census for 85th District, Union County, Georgia as John Twigs, 5 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Margret England, Mary Louise Twiggs, Elizabeth Jane Twiggs, Margaret Twiggs, Joice Minerva Ann Twiggs and Harvy Alonzo Twiggs.6

On 30 June 1860 John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated in the household of Willis Twiggs on the 1860 U. S. census for Choestoe Post Office, Union County, Georgia as John W Twiggs, 13 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Margret England, Elizabeth Jane Twiggs, Margaret Twiggs, Joice Minerva Ann Twiggs and Harvy Alonzo Twiggs.7

John Wesley Twiggs began military service circa July 1864 at Union County, Georgia, in Shuttle's Company, Col Ledford's Regiment, Georgia State Militia.3

John Wesley Twiggs ended military service in April 1865 at Blairsville, Union County, Georgia.3

On 18 June 1870 John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated in the household of Willis Twiggs on the 1870 U. S. census for Blairsville Post Office, Subdivision 126, Union County, Georgia as John W Twiggs, 24 years old, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farm Laborer, value of personal property $500. Enumerated as 21 Year or older male citizen. Also enumerated in the household were Margret England and Harvy Alonzo Twiggs.8

John Wesley Twiggs married Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, daughter of Thomas M Hughes and Nancy A Bird, on 20 August 1871 at Union County, Georgia. Marion H Eakes officiated.9

John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated on 14 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Choestoe District (834), Union County, Georgia as John Twigs, 34 years old, Married, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farmer. Father born in South Carolina. Mother born in South Carolina.. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, Edwin P. Twiggs, Nan E Twiggs, Callie Twiggs, Mary Twiggs, L. M. Twiggs and William Frady.10

On 15 February 1881 John Wesley Twiggs was granted temporary Letters of Administration for the estate of Willis Twiggs by the Court of Ordinary, Union County, Georgia. The bond was $2000. Thomas M Hughes pledged security for the bond.11

On 4 April 1881 John Wesley Twiggs was granted permanent Letters of Administration for the estate of Willis Twiggs by the Court of Ordinary, Union County, Georgia. The bond was $2500. Thomas M Hughes and T. J. Haralson pledged security for the bond.12

John Wesley Twiggs was 39 years old, when his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, died on 2 June 1885.13,14

John Wesley Twiggs married Georgia Elizabeth Westmoreland, daughter of Revees Westmoreland and Susan Clark Allison, on 4 February 1886 at White County, Georgia.15

John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated on 18 June 1900 as head of household on the 1900 U. S. census for Choestoe District, Union County, Georgia as John W Twiggs, 54 years old, Head, married for 13 years, Born Jan 1846 in Georgia. Father born in North Carolina. Mother born in North Carolina.. Also enumerated in the household were Georgia Elizabeth Westmoreland, Callie Twiggs, Mary Twiggs, L. M. Twiggs, Nell Twiggs, Walter M. Twiggs and Eugene Twiggs.16 Rev John Wesley Twiggs performed the marriage of John M Twiggs and Sarah Collins on 10 March 1908 at Union County, Georgia.17

John Wesley Twiggs was enumerated on 18 April 1910 as head of household on the 1910 U. S. census for G.M. 834 Choestoe, Union County, Georgia as John W Twiggs, 64 years old, Head, Married 2nd for 24 years, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farmer in the General Farm industry. Could read. Could write. owned a Farm which was Free and Clear. Father born in South Carolina. Mother born in North Carolina.. Also enumerated in the household were Georgia Elizabeth Westmoreland, Walter M. Twiggs and Eugene Twiggs.18

John Wesley Twiggs applied for a a Georgia state Confederate Soldier's Pension on 22 Sep 1915. His application was witnessed by Jasper Nix on 22 September 1915 at Union County, Georgia.3

John Wesley Twiggs died on 30 July 1917 at age 71.5,19

    Nan E. Collins, the daughter of Rev. John W. Twiggs and Sarah Elizabeth Hughes Twiggs was born February 17, 1874, at Blairsville, Ga. And passed away on December 26, 1953 at 3:20 a.m. at her home west of Eaton where she has lived for fifty seven years.

    She united with the Methodist Church early in her life and took an active part in church and Sunday School work.

    She was married to James M. Collins on January 2, 1896 at her father's home. She and her husband came to Colorado. She transferred her membership to the Methodist Church at Windsor as there was no Methodist Church in Eaton. After the First Baptist Church was organized in Eaton, she joined there in order to rear her children in their father's faith and has taken an active part in the church work. She taught Sunday School for some time. Two sons have preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing five children: Mrs. May C. Flint of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Gladys Woodrow of Denver, Marvin J. Collins, Miss Alda Collins, and James M. Collins, Jr. all of Eaton.

    Also surviving are a sister Mrs. Gordon Allison of Eaton, four brothers: the Rev. L. M. Twiggs and the Rev. Walter M. Twiggs, both of Atlanta, Ga., Eugene Twiggs of Warren, Ga. and E. P. Twiggs of Greeley.

    She was a charter member of the Eaton Chapter No. 67 Order of the Eastern Star Past Matron of the Eastern Star, a Charter member of the Order of Beauceant of Greeley, a long time member of the Rebekah Lodge of Eaton and a member of Navy Mother's Club No. 15., May Collins Flint Papers, privately held by Joseph M Flint, Seattle, King County, Washington.
