     Joseph Thurston was born on 22 March 1802 at Whitehall, Fairfield County, New York.2 He was the son of Daniel Greene Thurston and Fanny Thayer.1

Joseph Thurston married Charlotte Loofborrow on 9 February 1826.3

Joseph Thurston was enumerated during 1830 on the 1830 U. S. census for Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio as head of family Joseph Thurston. Enumerated in this family were: 2 Free white males under 5 years old, 1 Free white males 10 to 15 years old, 1 Free white males 20 to 30 years old, 1 Free white females 20 to 30 years old, 5 Total Persons.4

Joseph Thurston was enumerated during 1840 on the 1840 U. S. census for Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio as head of family Joseph Thurston. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow, Alfred Lorain Thurston, Frances Maria Thurston, John Loofborrow Thurston, Elmore Monroe Thurston, Mary Lousia Thurston, Jerusha Ann Thurston, Lucretia Cornella Thurston and Joanna Adelpha Thurston.6

Joseph Thurston was enumerated on 24 July 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio as Joseph Thurstin, 58 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $4000, value of personal property $600.. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow, Lucretia Cornella Thurston, Joanna Adelpha Thurston and Clara Elnora Thurston.7

Joseph Thurston was enumerated on 18 July 1870 as head of household on the 1870 U. S. census for Argyle, Lafayette County, Wisconsin as Joseph Thurston, 68 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of Druggist Retail, value of real property $90, value of personal property $6000. Enumerated as 21 Year or older male citizen.. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow and Clara Elnora Thurston.8

Joseph Thurston was enumerated on 29 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Village of Argyle, Lafayette County, Wisconsin as Joseph Thurston, 78 years old, Married, birthplace of New York, occupation of Retired Farmer. Father born in Rhode Island. Mother born in Rhode Island.. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow.9

Joseph Thurston died on 1 July 1885 at age 83.10
