John Loofborrow Thurston was born on 22 May 1834 at Ohio.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Thurston and Charlotte Loofborrow.1
On 1 August 1850 John Loofborrow Thurston was enumerated in the household of Joseph Thurston on the 1850 U. S. census for Delaware Town, Delaware County, Ohio as John L Thurston, 16 years old, birthplace of Ohio, occupation of Student. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow, Alfred Lorain Thurston, Frances Maria Thurston, Elmore Monroe Thurston, Mary Lousia Thurston, Jerusha Ann Thurston, Lucretia Cornella Thurston and Joanna Adelpha Thurston.2
