Alfred Lorain Thurston was born on 25 September 1829 at Ohio.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Thurston and Charlotte Loofborrow.1
On 1 August 1850 Alfred Lorain Thurston was enumerated in the household of Joseph Thurston on the 1850 U. S. census for Delaware Town, Delaware County, Ohio as Alfred L Thurston, 20 years old, birthplace of Ohio, occupation of Student. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow, Frances Maria Thurston, John Loofborrow Thurston, Elmore Monroe Thurston, Mary Lousia Thurston, Jerusha Ann Thurston, Lucretia Cornella Thurston and Joanna Adelpha Thurston.2
