     Elmore Monroe Thurston was born on 20 December 1836 at Eden, Ohio.1 He was the son of Joseph Thurston and Charlotte Loofborrow.1

On 1 August 1850 Elmore Monroe Thurston was enumerated in the household of Joseph Thurston on the 1850 U. S. census for Delaware Town, Delaware County, Ohio as Elmore M Thurston, 13 years old, birthplace of Ohio. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Charlotte Loofborrow, Alfred Lorain Thurston, Frances Maria Thurston, John Loofborrow Thurston, Mary Lousia Thurston, Jerusha Ann Thurston, Lucretia Cornella Thurston and Joanna Adelpha Thurston.2

Elmore Monroe Thurston married Mary Ann Johnson in 1856.1

Elmore Monroe Thurston was enumerated on 24 July 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Brown Township, Delaware County, Ohio as Elmore Thurstin, 23 years old, birthplace of Ohio, value of personal property $470.. Also enumerated in the household were Mary Ann Johnson, Jennie Thurston and Ida May Thurston.3

Elmore Monroe Thurston died on 12 February 1865 at Chattanooga, Tennessee, at age 28.1
