     Ethan Allen Flint was born on 29 November 1825 at New York.1 He was the son of Alvah Flint and Elizabeth Cross.1,2

Ethan Allen Flint was 16 years old, when his father, Alvah Flint, died on 20 December 1841.3,4

Ethan Allen Flint married Catherine Pitcher on 21 October 1845.5

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated on 19 July 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for Town of Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York as Ethan Flint, 24 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of Laborer, value of real property $100.. Also enumerated in the household were Catherine Pitcher.6

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated during 8 June 1855 on the 8 June 1855 New York Census for Town of Canajoharie, E.D. 2, Montgomery County as Ethan Flint, 31 years old, birthplace of Montgomery County, Married, occupation of Carpenter, resident 31 years in this city or town, Native voter, Did not own land.7

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated on 5 July 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Richland Township, Tama County, Iowa as E A Flint, 34 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of Farmer, value of personal property $100.. Also enumerated in the household were Catherine Pitcher, Alida Flint, Alice Flint, Benjamin Franklin Flint and Viona Flint.8

Ethan Allen Flint on 28 July 1863 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from John Beale and Annadilia Beale for $150. The property described as the South West Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section 35 in Township 82 North of Range 14 West of the 5th Prime Meridian. Witnessed by J D Smith and Newton B Hiatt.9

Ethan Allen Flint on 26 April 1865 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from Thomas A Hopkins and Maria F Hopkins for $300. The property described as the North East Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section No Twenty Nine (29) Township 82 North (82) of Range Fourteen (14) West.10

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated on 14 July 1870 as head of household on the 1870 U. S. census for Tama City Post Office, Richland Township, Tama County, Iowa as Ethan Flint, 42 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $3500, value of personal property $900. Enumerated as 21 Year or older male citizen.. Also enumerated in the household were Catherine Pitcher, Benjamin Franklin Flint, Dorcas Flint and Edith May Flint.11

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated on 1 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Richland Township, Tama County, Iowa as E A Flint, 54 years old, Married, birthplace of New York, occupation of Carpenter. Father born in New York. Mother born in New York.. Also enumerated in the household were Catherine Pitcher, Edith May Flint and Henry Bantz.12

Ethan Allen Flint was enumerated on 4 June 1900 as head of household on the 1900 U. S. census for Richland Township, Tama County, Iowa as Ethan Flint, 74 years old, Father, married for 54 years, Born Nov 1825 in New York, occupation of Carpenter, 3 Months Unemployed, Could read, Could write, Could speak English. owned a Farm which was mortgaged. Father born in New York. Mother born in New York.. Also enumerated in the household were Catherine Flint.13

Ethan Allen Flint married Phebe Rector, daughter of Mathew P Rector and Elizabeth Carney, on 13 November 1901 at Toledo, Tama County, Iowa.2

Ethan Allen Flint wrote a will on 13 September 1907 at Tama County, Iowa.
He bequeathed to his children:
  • B F Flint
  • Edeth Fowler formerly Edeth Flint
  • Alida Rosenberg formerly Alida Flint
  • Alice E Helmer formerly Alice Flint
  • Dorcas Wright formerly Dorcas Flint
one fifth of all his property.

In addition if daughter Edeth continued "to disobey me and live without regard to my comfort and welfare" her share would be divided between her children.14

Ethan Allen Flint died on 31 December 1911 at age 86.1

Ethan Allen Flint was buried at Haven Cemetery, Richland, Tama County, Iowa, as E.A. Flint.15
