     William Nix also went by the name of Gancer.1 He was born circa 1788 at Union County, South Carolina.1 He was the son of John Nix and Sarah Winters.2,1

William Nix married Susannah Stonecypher, daughter of John Stonecypher and Nancy Curtis, on 3 September 1809 at Franklin County, Georgia.3,1

William Nix was enumerated during 1830 on the 1830 U. S. census for Habersham County, Georgia as head of family Wm Nix. Enumerated in this family were: 3 Free white males 15 to 20 years old, 1 Free white males 40 to 50 years old, 2 Free white females under 5 years old, 1 Free white females 5 to 10 years old, 3 Free white females 10 to 15 years old, 1 Free white females 30 to 40 years old, 11 Total Persons.4

William Nix was enumerated during 1840 on the 1840 U. S. census for Mount Yonah, Habersham County, Georgia as head of family William Nix. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white persons, males, at least 5 and under 10 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 50 and under 60 years old, 2 Free white persons, females, at least 10 and under 15 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 15 and under 20 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 20 and under 30 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 50 and under 60 years old, 7 Total Persons, 2 Persons employed in Argriculture, 2 Persons over 20 years unable to read and write.5

William Nix was enumerated on 29 October 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for District 7, Habersham County, Georgia as Wm Nix, 62 years old, birthplace of South Carolina, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $2200.. Also enumerated in the household were Susannah Stonecypher, Fannie Farlene Nix, Malinda Nix, William Carr Nix and A J Sutton.6

On 15 March 1852 William Nixrecieved $770 from the estate of John Stonecypher.7

William Nix was enumerated on 23 July 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Mount Yonah Post Office, White County, Georgia as William A Nix, 71 years old, birthplace of South Carolina, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $3000, value of personal property $7350. Could not read or write.. Also enumerated in the household were Susannah Nix.8

William Nix died circa 1870 at White County, Georgia.1
