     Rutha Nix was born on 22 January 1822 at Georgia.1,2 She was the daughter of William Nix and Susannah Stonecypher.3,4

A Marriage License was granted to Rutha Nix and Francis Collins on 6 January 1841 at Union County, Georgia.5

Rutha Nix married Francis Collins, son of Thompson Collins and Celia Self, on 7 January 1841 at Union County, Georgia. Aydelotte in her Collins descendants book gives the license date as the marriage date.5,1

On 9 September 1850 Rutha Nix was enumerated in the household of Francis Collins on the 1850 U. S. census for 85th District, Union County, Georgia as Ruth Collins, 26 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Collins, Elizabeth Collins, William Dallas Collins, James R P Collins and Elem Black.6

On 30 June 1860 Rutha Nix was enumerated in the household of Francis Collins on the 1860 U. S. census for Choestoe Post Office, Union County, Georgia as Ruth Collins, 36 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Collins, Elizabeth Collins, William Dallas Collins, James R P Collins, Thompson Smith Collins, John Cathey Collins, Francis Jasper Collins and Mary Ann Collins.7

Rutha Nix was enumerated on 15 June 1870 as head of household on the 1870 U. S. census for Union County, Georgia as Ruth Collins, 48 years old, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $1500, value of personal property $400.. Also enumerated in the household were James R P Collins, John Cathey Collins, Francis Jasper Collins, Mary Ann Collins, Jane Malinda Collins, Achibald Benjamin Collins, Thompson Smith Collins and Susan Jane Cook.8

Rutha Nix was enumerated on 14 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Choestoe District (834), Choestoe, Union County, Georgia as Rutha Collins, 58 years old, Widowed, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Keeping House. Could not write. Father born in Georgia. Mother born in Georgia.. Also enumerated in the household were Jane Malinda Collins and Achibald Benjamin Collins.9

Rutha Nix died on 6 August 1893 at Union County, Georgia, at age 71. Aydelotte states in her Collins descendants book that Rutha died on 16 Aug 1893.2,10,1

Rutha Nix was buried at Old Choestoe Cemetery, Union County, Georgia, FG .2,11,12
