     James Nix also went by the name of Jimmy.1 He was born in July 1812 at Georgia.1 He was the son of William Nix and Susannah Stonecypher.2,3

James Nix married Elizabeth Collins, daughter of Thompson Collins and Celia Self, circa 1834 at Habersham County, Georgia.1

James Nix was enumerated on 25 October 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for 85th District, Union County, Georgia as James Nix, 38 years old, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $3000.. Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Collins, William Nix, Susannah Nix, Thompson Nix, John Nix, Archibald C Nix, James B Nix, Jasper Nix, Newton Nix, Thomas J Nix and Ivan Nix.4

James Nix died on 2 October 1882 at Choestoe, Union County, Georgia, at age 70.5
