     Levi Knapp was born on 1 May 1777 at Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut.1 He was the son of John Knapp and Ruth Gregory.2,1

Levi Knapp on 6 January 1802 purchased property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut from Paul Hamilton for $25. Described as a certain piece of land in Danbury at Pembrook containg about half an acre. Bounded on the North by John Knapp's land, on the east by the Highway, on the South by Paul Hamilton's land. it was staked off being 8 rods wide at the Highway and comming to a point at the West. It was 21 rods through the middle from the Highway to the point.. Witnessed by Betsy Benedict and Joseph P Cooke.3

Levi Knapp on 14 January 1802 purchased property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut from John Knapp for $150. Described as a certain piece of land in Danbury at Pembrook containg three acres? staked off. Bounded on the East, by the Highway and John Knapp's land, on the North and West by more of John Knapp's landand on the South in part by John Knapp's land and part by Capt. Paul Hamilton's land.. Witnessed by Sarah Cooke and Joseph P Cooke.4

Levi Knapp on 15 March 1809 purchased property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut from for $60. Described as a certain piece of land in Danbury at Pembrook containg two acres. Bounded on the East and North by the Highway, on the west and South by John Knapp's land.5

Levi Knapp was enumerated during 1810 on the 1810 U. S. census for Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut as head of family Levi Knapp. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white males 26 thru 44 years old, 1 Free white males 45 years old and over, 4 Free white females under 10 years old, 1 Free white females 26 thru 44 years old, 1 Free white females 45 years old and over.6

Levi Knapp on 26 July 1810 purchased property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut from John Knapp for $150. Described as two pieces of land in Danbury at Pembrook. The first piece containg about one acre with John Knapp's dwelling house on it. Bounded on the West by the Highway, On the South and East by Hoah Hoyt's land and on the North by Stephen Hamilton's land. The Second piece containg about half an acre. Bounded on the West by the Highway, On the South and East by John Knapp's other land, and on the North by Levi Knapp's other land.. Witnessed by Daniel B. Cooke and Jepe Hoyt.7

Levi Knapp on 15 February 1811 obtained interest in property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut by quitclaim deed from Samuel Knapp for $63. Described as a certain piece of land in Danbury at Pembrook containg about one and half acres. Bounded on the East by Levi Knapp's land, on the West by land set off to my Mother, Ruth Knapp as dower im my father's estate, on the South by Rith Knapp and John Knapp's land. It being the piece of land distributedd to Samuel Knapp out of the Estate of his father John Knapp.. Witnessed by Abigail Crocker and Joseph P Cooke.8

Levi Knapp on 19 August 1818 witnessed the transfer of interest in property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut by a quitclaim deed from Joshua B Bearss and Ruth B Bearss to Paul Hamilton for $26. Described as a certain piece of land in Danbury containg two acres. Bounded on the East in part by Paul Hamilton and in part by Thaddeus Hoyt's land, on the North by the Highway, on the west by Ruth Knapp's land and on the South by Paul Hamilton. Signed in New Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.9

Levi Knapp on 19 August 1818 obtained interest in property located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut by quitclaim deed from Joshua B Bearss and Ruth B Knapp for $5. Described as all the Estate of widow Ruth Knapp of Danbury both real and personal lying in Danbury. Witnessed by Chloe Hopkins and Samuel T Barnum Justice of Peace.10

Levi Knapp was enumerated during 1820 on the 1820 U. S. census for Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut as head of family Levi Knapp. Enumerated in this family were: 2 Free white males to 10 years old, 1 Free white males 26 to 45 years old, 1 Free white females to 10 years old, 2 Free white females 10 to 16 years old, 2 Free white females 16 to 26 years old, 2 Free white females 26 to 45 years old, 1 Number engaged in Manufacture.11

Levi Knapp was enumerated during 1830 on the 1830 U. S. census for Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut as head of family Levi Knapp. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white males under 5 years old, 2 Free white males 5 to 10 years old, 1 Free white males 10 to 15 years old, 1 Free white males 50 to 60 years old, 1 Free white females 10 to 15 years old, 1 Free white females 40 to 50 years old, 1 Free white females 80 to 90 years old, 8 Total Persons.12

Levi Knapp was enumerated during 1840 on the 1840 U. S. census for Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut as head of family Levi Knapp. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white persons, males, at least 10 and under 15 years old, 2 Free white persons, males, at least 15 and under 20 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 20 and under 30 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 60 and under 70 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 20 and under 30 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 30 and under 40 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 50 and under 60 years old, 8 Total Persons, 3 Persons employed in Argriculture, 1 Persons employed in Manufacturing.13

Levi Knapp was enumerated on 25 June 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut as Levi Knapp, 80 years old, birthplace of Connecticut, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $2500, value of personal property $250.15
