Jacob Gerhart was born circa 1817 at Germany.1 He was the son of Adam Gerhart and Sophia Zimmer.2,3
Jacob Gerhart traveled with Adam Gerhart from Germany in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 4 July 1834; arrived in New York City in August 1834; and settled in Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio Also traveling together were Sophia Zimmer, Margaret Gerhart, Adam Gerhart and Daniel Gerhart.4
Jacob Gerhart married Maria Catherine Seyler on 20 October 1842 at Washington County, Ohio.5
