Maria Gerhart was born circa 1853 at Ohio.1 She was the daughter of Jacob Gerhart and Maria Catherine Seyler.1
On 2 August 1860 Maria Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Jacob Gerhart on the 1860 U. S. census for Lowell Post Office, Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio as Maria Gerhard, 7 years old, birthplace of Ohio. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Maria Catherine Seyler, Catherine Gerhart, Daniel Gerhart, John Gerhart, Rosina Gerhart and Adam Gerhart.1
On 16 August 1870 Maria Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Jacob Gerhart on the 1870 U. S. census for Lowell Post Office, Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio as Mary Gerhard, 17 years old, birthplace of Ohio, occupation of Helps Mother. Also enumerated in the household were Maria Catherine Seyler, Daniel Gerhart, Rosina Gerhart and John E Shafer.2
