     Adam Gerhart was also known as Johannes Adam Gerhart.2 He was born on 27 September 1787 at Germany.3,1

Adam Gerhart married Sophia Zimmer.1,3

Adam Gerhart traveled from Germany in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 4 July 1834; arrived in New York City in August 1834; and settled in Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio. Also traveling were Sophia Zimmer, Jacob Gerhart, Margaret Gerhart, Adam Gerhart and Daniel Gerhart.4

Adam Gerhart was enumerated during 1840 on the 1840 U. S. census for Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio as head of family Adam Gearhart. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white persons, males, under 5 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 5 and under 10 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 10 and under 15 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 50 and under 60 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, under 5 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 15 and under 20 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 40 and under 50 years old, 7 Total Persons.5

Adam Gerhart was enumerated on 4 September 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for District No 137 Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio as Adam Gerhart, 63 years old, birthplace of Germany, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $800.. Also enumerated in the household were Sophia Zimmer, Adam Gerhart, Charlie Gerhart, Caroline Gerhart and Elizabeth Gerhart.1

Adam Gerhart died on 21 November 1859 at Washington County, Ohio, at age 72.3
