     Samuel Thurston was born on 18 January 1807.1 He was the son of Daniel Greene Thurston and Fanny Thayer.2

Samuel Thurston married Prudence Bearss, daughter of Joshua Baker Bearss and Ruth B Knapp, on 13 November 1830 at Marion, Ohio.3,4

Samuel Thurston on 1 June 1832 purchased property at the Tiffin Land Office the East Half of the South East Quarter of Section 15, Township 4 South, Range 16 East, 1st Principal Meridian, 80 acres located in Marion County, Ohio.5

Samuel Thurston on 12 August 1833 purchased property at the Tiffin Land Office the West Half of the North West Quarter, Section 23, Township 4 South, Range 16 East 1st Principal Meridian, 80 acres located in Marion County, Ohio.6 He was a witness to a deed between Grantor Henry Parcel and Susanna Parcel and Grantee Alexander Kirkpatrick on 21 December 1833 at Marion County, Ohio.7

Samuel Thurston and his wife and two young sons reached Pleasant Township, Wabash County, Indiana in August 1835. They traveled by ox wagon from Delaware County Ohio. They were the second family to settle in Pleasant Township. in August 1835.8 He was a fathful Methodist.8

Samuel Thurston on 13 March 1837 recieved a U.S land patent for property located in Wabash County, Indiana from the land office at La Port, Indiana. The land was described as the East half of the NE quarter of Section 7, Township 29 N, Range 6 E, 2nd Principal Meridian, 80 Acres.9

Samuel Thurston was enumerated during 1840 on the 1840 U. S. census for Pleasant Township, Wabash County, Indiana as head of family Samuel Thurston. Enumerated in this family were: 1 Free white persons, males, under 5 years old, 2 Free white persons, males, at least 5 and under 10 years old, 1 Free white persons, males, at least 30 and under 40 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, under 5 years old, 1 Free white persons, females, at least 20 and under 30 years old, 7[sic] Total Persons.10

Samuel Thurston died on 20 June 1847 at age 40.11

Samuel Thurston was buried at Nabors Cemetery, Wabash County, Indiana.11
