Obituary

THURSTON. -- Nannie Schuler was born in Wabash county, Ind., January 28 1840, died in Red Oak Ia. Friday September 4 1885, after an illness of two years in which she was confined to her bed nearly sixteen months.

Miss Schuler was married to Daniel B. Thurston, April 19, 1862. In 1865 Mr. and Mrs. Thurston removed to Blue Earth City Minn., and in 1880 to Red Oak. Mrs. Thurston will be long remembered in these places by host of friends, for the sterling qualities of Christian womanhood, which shone so brightly in her character.

She was converted at fourteen and united with the Presbyterian Church, of which her parents were members. After marriage she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, that she might be in the same communion with her husband. She was an earnest and efficient worker in the cause of the Church and temperance, until failing health compelled retirement. In the last weary months of suffering she was patient, brave and trustful. When the long expected end drew near, she was anxious to depart and be at rest. She passed away in the fullest assurance of the Christian's hope. The husband and four daughters are left with precious memories of wife and mother.2
