     Joseph Pealin Cantrell was born on 16 October 1846 at Tennessee.3,4,2 He was the son of Gabriel Cantrell and Nancy Smith.3

On 8 October 1850 Joseph Pealin Cantrell was enumerated in the household of Nancy Smith on the 1850 U. S. census for the 23 Subdivision, McMinn County, Tennessee as Joseph Cantrell, 2 years old, birthplace of Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household were Larkin Cantrell, William Cantrell, Thomas Cantrell, James Cantrell, Robert Cantrell, Alexander Cantrell, Felix Cantrell, Mary Ann Elizabeth Cantrell, Sarah Cantrell, Hesekiah Cantrell and David Cantrell.5

On 16 August 1860 Joseph Pealin Cantrell was enumerated in the household of Nancy Smith on the 1860 U. S. census for Hazelwood Post Office, Union Township, Webster County, Missouri as Joseph Cantrell, 11 years old, birthplace of Tennessee. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Alexander Cantrell, Felix Cantrell, Mary Ann Elizabeth Cantrell, Sarah Cantrell, Hesekiah Cantrell, David Cantrell and Sarah E Cantrell.6

Joseph Pealin Cantrell married Sarah Caroline Cantrell, daughter of John J Cantrell and Deadema Van Hooser, on 16 December 1869 at Webster County, Missouri.1,4

S. census for Hazelwood Post Office, Hazelwood Township, Webster County, Missouri as Joseph Cantrill, 21 years old, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Farmer, value of personal property $150. Could not read. Could not write. Enumerated as 21 Year or older male citizen. Also enumerated in the household were David Cantrell and Sarah Caroline Cantrell.7

Joseph Pealin Cantrell was enumerated on 26 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for High Prairie Township, Webster County, Missouri as Joseph P Cantrell, 31 years old, Married, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Farmer. Could not read. Could not write. Mother born in Tennessee.. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Caroline Cantrell, John G Cantrell, William David Cantrell, Nancy E Cantrell, Millissa Cantrell, Jasper Cantrell and Tati Cantrell.8

Joseph Pealin Cantrell was enumerated on 14 June 1900 as head of household on the 1900 U. S. census for High Prairie Township, Webster County, Missouri as Jos P Cantrell, 51 years old, Head, married for 30 years, Born Oct 1850 in Tennessee, occupation of Farmer, Could not read, Could not write, Could speak English. owned a Farm which was mortgaged. Father born in Tennessee. Mother born in Tennessee.. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Caroline Cantrell, Jasper Cantrell, Ada S Cantrell, Emma S Cantrell, James Messley Cantrell, Martha E Cantrell, Sadie Cantrell, Minnie M Cantrell and Virgil Weaver Cantrell.9

Joseph Pealin Cantrell was enumerated on 22 April 1910 as head of household on the 1910 U. S. census for Niangua Township, Webster County, Missouri as Joseph P Cantrell, 60 years old, Head, Married 1st for 40 years, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Stock Dealer in the Buying and Selling industry, working on own account. Could read. Could write. owned a House which was mortgaged. Father born in Tennessee. Mother born in Tennessee.. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Caroline Cantrell, Martha E Cantrell, Sadie Cantrell and Virgil Weaver Cantrell.10

Joseph Pealin Cantrell died on 9 October 1917 at High Prarie Thownship, Webster County, Missouri, at age 70. He was murdered by gunshot at 6:30 pm.3,2
