     James Messley Cantrell was born on 13 July 1886 at Missouri.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Pealin Cantrell and Sarah Caroline Cantrell.1

On 14 June 1900 James Messley Cantrell was enumerated in the household of Joseph Pealin Cantrell on the 1900 U. S. census for High Prairie Township, Webster County, Missouri as James M Cantrell, 13 years old, Son, single, Born July 1886 in Missouri, occupation of Farm Laborer. Attended school for 2 months, Could read, Could write, Could speak English. Father born in Tennessee. Mother born in Missouri. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Caroline Cantrell, Jasper Cantrell, Ada S Cantrell, Emma S Cantrell, Martha E Cantrell, Sadie Cantrell, Minnie M Cantrell and Virgil Weaver Cantrell.1

James Messley Cantrell died on 28 August 1905 at age 19.2
