     Nellie Hall Dennis was also known as Eleanor.2 She was born on 4 November 1838 at Warren County, Tennessee.4,5,2,1 She was the daughter of Jonathan Dennis and Elizabeth Hall.2,6

On 21 September 1850 Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated in the household of Jonathan Dennis on the 1850 U. S. census for District No 37, Hickory County, Missouri as Eleanor Dennis, 12 years old, birthplace of Tennessee. Also enumerated in the household were Mary Barnett, Elcana Blevins Dennis, Barnett H Dennis, William Nathan Dennis, Elizabeth Dennis, Hilley Dennis and Edde Dennis.7

Nellie Hall Dennis married William Singleton Lee, son of (?) Lee and (?) Lee, in 1854 at Missouri.8,2

On 2 June 1860 Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated in the household of William Singleton Lee on the 1860 U. S. census for Collin County, Texas as Ellender Lee, 21 years old, birthplace of Tennessee Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Lee, Riley R Lee and Winnie Ann Lee.9

On 16 June 1880 Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated in the household of William Singleton Lee on the 1880 U. S. census for Com. Precinct No. 4, Uvalde County, Texas as Nellie Lee, 41 years old, Wife, Married, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Keeping House. Father born in Tennessee. Mother born in Kentucky. Also enumerated in the household were Mollie Emily Lee, John Dennis Lee, William Singleton Lee Jr., Barnett Hall Lee, Nellie Jolethea Lee and Lillian R. Lee.10

28 June 1885 Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated with William Singleton Lee on the 1885 New Mexico Territory census for Organ, Dona Ana County as Willie Lee, Wife, Married, 46 years old, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of House Work. Also enumerated in the household were Riley R Lee, Mollie Emily Lee, John Dennis Lee, William Singleton Lee Jr., Barnett Hall Lee, Nellie Jolethea Lee and Lillian R. Lee.11

The Maxwell's Los Angeles City Directory for 1895 listed Nellie Hall Dennis as Nellie Lee (widow William) living at 1027 Bartlett, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. Also listed were William Singleton Lee Jr. and John Dennis Lee.12

Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated on 1 June 1900 as head of household on the 1900 U. S. census for Cochise County, Arizona as Nellie Lee, Widowed, born Nov 1838, 62 years old, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Dressmaker, mother of 12 children 10 of which were still alive.13

On 5 May 1910 Nellie Hall Dennis was enumerated in the household of Aaron Hezekiah Barrett on the 1910 U. S. census for Precinct 3 Vilas, Baca County, Colorado as Nellie Lee, 71 years old, Mother in law, Widowed, gave birth to 12 children, number of children still living 10, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of None. Could read. Could write. Father born in Tennessee. Mother born in Kentucky. Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Lee, Aaron Hezekiah Barrett, Claira E Barrett, Ara R Barrett and Claude S Canton.14

Nellie Hall Dennis died on 25 January 1916 at 1317 Travis St, El Paso, El Paso County, Texas, at age 77. The cause of death was Bronchitis.4

Nellie Hall Dennis was buried in 1916 at Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.2
