     Barnabas Rector was born in December 1829 at New York.2,3 He was the son of Mathew P Rector and Elizabeth Carney.

On 18 July 1850 Barnabas Rector was enumerated in the household of Mathew P Rector on the 1850 U. S. census for Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York as Barnabas Rector, 20 years old, birthplace of New York, occupation of laborer. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Carney, Phebe Rector, Abigail E Rector and Silas Charles Rector.4

Barnabas Rector on 17 May 1864 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from Adin Norris and Margaret Norris for $250. The property described as the North East Quarter of the South East Quarter of Section No Twenty Nine (29) Township No Eighty Two (82) North of Range No Thirteen West of the 5th P. M.5

Barnabas Rector on 24 February 1866 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from Mathew P Rector and Elizabeth Carney for $5. The property described as the South East quarter of the North West quarter of Section thirty two (32) Township eighty two (82) North of Range Thierteen (13) West containg forty acres.6

Barnabas Rector on 12 November 1867 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from James J Lindley and Josephine Lindley for $80. The property described as the North West quarter of the North East quarter of Section Thirty two (32) Township 82 Range 13 West.7

Enumerated as 21 Year or older male citizen.. Also enumerated in the household were Mary E (?) and Mathew P Rector.8

Barnabas Rector was enumerated on 1 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Salt Creek Township, Tama County, Iowa as Barna Rector, 50 years old, Married, birthplace of New York, occupation of Farmer. Father born in New York. Mother born in New York.. Also enumerated in the household were Mary E (?), Mathew P Rector and Benj Thompson.3

On 18 June 1900 Barnabas Rector was enumerated in the household of Benj Thompson on the 1900 U. S. census for Marion, Polk County, Missouri as Barnabus Rector, 70 years old, F in Law, widow, Born Dec 1829 in New York, Could read, Could write, Could speak English. Father born in New York. Mother born in New York. Also enumerated in the household were Ella Jane Falls, Lillith Thompson, William H Thompson, Barnny A Thompson and Phebe A Thompson.2

Barnabas Rector died in 1914.9
