     Silas Charles Rector was born on 1 August 1838 at New York.2,4,3 He was the son of Mathew P Rector and Elizabeth Carney.

On 18 July 1850 Silas Charles Rector was enumerated in the household of Mathew P Rector on the 1850 U. S. census for Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York as Charles Rector, 12 years old, birthplace of New York. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Carney, Barnabas Rector, Phebe Rector and Abigail E Rector.1

Silas Charles Rector on 25 September 1863 purchased property located in Tama County, Iowa from James V Bonghner and Lousia J Bonghner for$130. The property described as the South West fourth of the South West Quarter of Section no thirty five (35) in Township No Eighty two (82) North of Range No Fourteen (14) West of 5th PM.5

Silas Charles Rector died on 12 February 1913 at age 74.2
