     John Gerhart was born on 19 November 1829 at Germany.2,1 He was the son of Jacob Gerhart and Anna Maria Lauer.1

John Gerhart traveled with Jacob Gerhart from Germany in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 28 Jul 1834; arrived in New York City on 3 Sep 1834; and settled in Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio on 28 Sep 1834 Also traveling together were Anna Maria Lauer and Jacob Gerhart.3

On 27 August 1850 John Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Jacob Gerhart on the 1850 U. S. census for Fearing Township District No 157, Washington County, Ohio as John Gerhart, 20 years old, birthplace of Germany. Also enumerated in the household were Anna Maria Lauer.1

John Gerhart married Margaret Lauer on 10 February 1851 at Washington County, Ohio.4

Father born in Germany. Mother born in Germany.. Also enumerated in the household were Margaret Lauer, Rosetta Gerhart, Phillip Beach, Erwin Beach and Hilme Beach.8

On 18 April 1910 John Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Phillip Beach on the 1910 U. S. census for Muskingum Township, Washington County, Ohio as John Gearhart, 80 years old, Father in Law, widow, birthplace of Germany, occupation of Retired. Could read. Could write. Father born in Germany. Mother born in Germany. Also enumerated in the household were Rosetta Gerhart, Erwin Beach and Hilme Beach.9

John Gerhart died on 17 March 1917 at Washington County, Ohio, at age 87.2
