     Caroline Gerhart was born circa 1855 at Ohio.1 She was the daughter of John Gerhart and Margaret Lauer.1

On 12 July 1860 Caroline Gerhart was enumerated in the household of John Gerhart on the 1860 U. S. census for Lowell and Marietta Post Office, Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio as Caroline Gerhart, 5 years old, birthplace of Ohio. Also enumerated in the household were Margaret Lauer, Elizabeth M Gerhart, Elizabeth Gerhart, Jacob Gerhart, Anna Maria Lauer and Charlie Gerhart.1

On 2 August 1870 Caroline Gerhart was enumerated in the household of John Gerhart on the 1870 U. S. census for Watertown Ohio Post Office, Muskingum Township, Washington County, Ohio as Caroline Gerhart, 15 years old, birthplace of Ohio, occupation of Helps Mother. Father was foreign born. Mother was foreign born. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Margaret Lauer, Elizabeth M Gerhart, John Gerhart, Rosena Gerhart, Rosetta Gerhart and Anna Maria Lauer.2
