     Jacob Gerhart was born on 3 November 1821 at Germany.2,3 He was the son of Jacob Gerhart and Anna Maria Lauer.4

Jacob Gerhart traveled with Jacob Gerhart from Germany in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 28 Jul 1834; arrived in New York City on 3 Sep 1834; and settled in Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio on 28 Sep 1834 Also traveling together were Anna Maria Lauer and John Gerhart.5

Jacob Gerhart married Catharine Zimmer on 25 April 1844 GE GM  at Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio.6

S. census for Fearing Township District No 157, Washington County, Ohio as Jacob Gerhart, 27 years old, birthplace of Germany, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $300.. Also enumerated in the household were Catharine Zimmer, John Gerhart, Jacob Gerhart and Charels Gerhart.3

Jacob Gerhart was enumerated on 12 July 1860 as head of household on the 1860 U. S. census for Lowell and Marietta Post Office, Fearing Township, Washington County, Ohio as Jacob Gerhart, 38 years old, birthplace of Bavaria, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $1500, value of personal property $415.. Also enumerated in the household were Catharine Zimmer, Daniel Gerhart, Henry Gerhart, Christoph Gerhart, Sara C E Gerhart, Edward Gerhart, Herman Gerhart and Flora Gerhart.8

Jacob Gerhart was enumerated on 18 June 1880 as head of household on the 1880 U. S. census for Marietta, Second Ward, Washington County, Ohio as Jacob Gerhart, 59 years old, Widowed, birthplace of Bavaria, occupation of Farm Laborer. Father born in Bavaria. Mother born in Bavaria.. Also enumerated in the household were Daniel Gerhart, Sara C E Gerhart, Edward Gerhart, Herman Gerhart and Flora Gerhart.9

Jacob Gerhart died on 8 July 1889 at 636 W Harrison, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, at age 67. He died a t 9:30 AM The cause of death appears to be phthisis (A wasting away of the body; applied especially to pulmonary tuberculosis). The writting on the certificate of death is not clear. Jacob's final illness lasted for 1 1/2 years.2,10

Jacob Gerhart was buried at Rose Hill, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.2
