     William Biggerstaff was born circa 1840 at Illinois.1 He was the son of Benjamin Biggerstaff and Nancy Courtney.1

On 4 October 1850 William Biggerstaff was enumerated in the household of Benjamin Biggerstaff on the 1850 U. S. census for Macoupin County, Illinois as William Bigerstaff, 10 years old, birthplace of Illinois Also enumerated in the household were Nancy Courtney, Nancy A Biggerstaff, Elizabeth Biggerstaff, Mary Biggerstaff, James Biggerstaff, Sarah Ella Biggerstaff and John T Biggerstaff.1

On 28 August 1860 William Biggerstaff was enumerated in the household of Benjamin Biggerstaff on the 1860 U. S. census for Macoupin County, Illinois as William T Biggerstaff, 20 years old, birthplace of Illinois, occupation of Farmer Also enumerated in the household were Nancy Courtney, Mary Biggerstaff, James Biggerstaff, Sarah Ella Biggerstaff and Martha F Biggerstaff.2
