     Martha Ella Barrett also went by the name of Ella.3 She was born on 15 March 1879 at Uvalde County, Texas.1 She was the daughter of Aaron Hezekiah Barrett and Elizabeth Lee.1,4

On 16 June 1880 Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated in the household of Aaron Hezekiah Barrett on the 1880 U. S. census for Com. Precinct No. 4, Uvalde County, Texas as Martha Barrett, 1 years old, Daughter, Single, birthplace of Texas. Father born in Georgia. Mother born in Missouri. Also enumerated in the household were Elizabeth Lee, George Barrett, Nellie G Barrett, Aaron Hezekiah Barrett and Martha Lee.4

Martha Ella Barrett married Jacob C Blake on 17 September 1897 at Beaver County, Oklahoma Territory. Probate Judge Charles Tracy officiated. Robert Dickson and L. M. Larsen were the official witnesses.5

Martha Ella Barrett on 22 November 1898 purchased property located in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory from J. C. Blake [a home] for $400. Described as Lot 2 of Block 8W of the School Land Township of Flagstaff and Lots 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 of Block 97 Township of Flagstaff.. Witnessed by T. E Pulliam Notary Public.6,7

On 6 June 1900 Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated in the household of Jacob C Blake on the 1900 U. S. census for Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory as Ella B Blake, Wife, Married for 3 years, gave birth to 2 children, number of children still living 1, Born Mar 1879 in Texas. Could read. Could write. Could speak English. Father born in Georgia. Mother born in Missouri. Also enumerated in the household were Elmer J Blake and Ernest C Blake.8

On 19 April 1910 Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated in the household of Jacob C Blake on the 1910 U. S. census for Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory as Ella B Blake, 31 years old, Wife, Married 1st for 12 years, gave birth to 3 children, number of children still living 3, birthplace of Texas. Could read. Could write. Father born in Missouri. Mother born in Alabama. Also enumerated in the household were Elmer J Blake, Ernest C Blake and Athol Barrett Blake.9

Martha Ella Barrett and Jacob C Blake on 6 February 1912 sold property located in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory to Pio Gortani and Nicolas Gortani for $1 and other good and valuable considerations. Described as Lot 1 Block 8W of the Townsite of Flagstaff, Also Lots 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 of Block 97 of the Townsite of Flagstaff.. Witnessed by C. B. Wilson Notary Public.10

Martha Ella Barrett and J. C. Blake on 3 April 1912 sold property located in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory to W. H. Switzer for $1 and other good and valuable considerations. Described as 55 feet of the West end of Lots 19 and 20 Block 4 Rail Road addition to the Town of Flagstaff. Witnessed by C. B. Wilson Notary Public.11

Martha Ella Barrett married Olaf Severin Emblem, son of Lars Emblem and Severine (?), between 14 August 1913 and 21 August 1913 at Bernallillo County, New Mexico.12

Martha Ella Barrett divorced Olaf Severin Emblem for desertion between 31 January 1916 and 2 February 1916 at Santa Fe, Santa Fe County, New Mexico.13,14

The Denver Directory for 1918 listed Martha Ella Barrett as Mrs.Martha E Blake living at 1033 Acoma, Denver, Denver County, Colorado GE GM . Also listed were Elmer J Blake, Ernest C Blake and Athol Barrett Blake.15

Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated on 9 January 1920 as head of household on the 1920 U. S. census for Denver, Denver County, Colorado as Martha E Blake, 41 years old, Head, Widowed, birthplace of Texas, occupation of None. Could Read. Could write. Could speak English. Renter. Father born in Georgia. Mother born in Missouri.. Also enumerated in the household were Elmer J Blake, Ernest C Blake and Athol Barrett Blake.16

Ella's third marriage with Frank Soltys was a troubled one. Family tradition reports that Frank physically abused his new wife. When Ella's sons found out about this the had a talk with Frank. It has been my understanding that the conversion was punctuated with fists. There is also a family tradition that Ella thought the marriage with Frank would be her last chance at marital happiness. This might explain why she appears to have re-married him in 1923. At this point, April 2014. I have not found out what happened to Frank or how the second marriage ended.

Martha Ella Barrett married Frank Soltys on 21 March 1922 at Golden, Jefferson County, Colorado. Chas McCall officiated.17

On 30 December 1922 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado,The Rocky Mountain News published the following: "...Other divorces granted by Judge Luxford follow: Martha E. Soltys from Frank Soltys for cruelty..."18

Martha Ella Barrett divorced Frank Soltys on 7 July 1923 at Denver, Denver County, Colorado. She resumed the name of Martha E. Blake after the divorce.19

Martha Ella Barrett married Frank Soltys on 7 August 1923 at Littleton, Arapahoe County, Colorado.20

Martha Ella Barrett married William A Wallace on 20 November 1925 at Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado. Judge E J Ingram officiated.21

On 2 April 1930 Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated in the household of William A Wallace on the 1930 U. S. census for Weld County, Colorado as Martha E Wallace, 51 years old, Wife, Married, was first married at age 19, birthplace of Texas. Could read and write.Father born in Georgia. Mother born in Missouri.22

On 5 April 1940 Martha Ella Barrett was enumerated in the household of William A Wallace on the 1940 U. S. census for Precinct 1, Fort Lupton, Weld County, Colorado as Martha Wallace, 61 years old, wife of head of household, married, was first married at age 19, had been married more than once, gave birth to 3 children, was born in Texas, recieved $0 in wages or salary income in 1939, had not attended school or college since March 1, 1940, had complleted 8th grade, father was born in Georgia, mother was born in Missouri.23

Martha Ella Barrett died on 7 October 1971 at Pico Rivera, California, at age 92.1,24

Martha Ella Barrett was buried at Hillside Cemetery, Fort Lupton, Weld County, Colorado, Located near the southeast corner of town on a hill, North 1/2 Section 8, Township 1 North, Range 66 West.24,25
