On 4 July 1909 at Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona Territory, Athol Barrett Blake was in the Fourth of July parade dressed as Uncle Sam and riding his donkey, Dandy. He won a $5.00 prize.2,3

Father born in Ohio. Mother born in Texas. Also enumerated in the household were Martha Ella Barrett, Elmer J Blake and Ernest C Blake.4

The Denver Directory for 1918 listed Athol Barrett Blake as Athol B Blake living at 1033 Acoma, Denver, Denver County, Colorado He worked as a mechanic at W W Barnett [1308 Lincoln Street, Denver]. Also listed were Martha Ella Barrett Elmer J Blake and Ernest C Blake.5

Did not attended school within the year. Father born in Ohio. Mother born in Texas. Also enumerated in the household were Elmer J Blake and Ernest C Blake.6

Athol Barrett Blake married Marie Jane Fisher, daughter of James Fisher and Margaret Anne Nelson, on 3 March 1923 at Provo, Utah County, Utah. Bishop A W Harding officiated. James C Fisher and William Otto Framton were the official witnesses.7,8

Also enumerated in the household were Marie Jane Fisher, Bruce Blake, Gloria Beverly Blake, Marjorie Jeannine Blake and Gary Michael Blake.10

Athol Barrett Blake died on 15 September 2008 at Logan, Cache County, Utah, at age 106.11

Athol Barrett Blake, age 106, died September 15, 2008 at Terrace Grove Assisted Living in Logan, Utah.

He was born December 18, 1901 in Beaver County near Logan, Oklahoma to Jacob C. Blake and Martha Ella Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jeanne S. Weeks, daughter, Jeannine Parker, son, Gary Blake (Shanna), step-daughters, Rikki Yarrington, Karen Wiley (Larry), 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, 6 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers Elmer and Ernest, wife of 63 years, Marie Fisher, son, Bruce Blake, daughter, Gloria Nemnich, sons-in-law Gordon Flint, Larry Nemnich, Kenneth Parker and step-daughter, Kathryn Weeks.

He lived much of his life in Salt Lake City where he worked at Granite Mill & Fixture Co. and in the automotive business. He helped found the Utah Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church, which he joined at age 60. He adored little children and was beloved by adults who knew him for his agreeable nature and ready wit.

Thanks for special services rendered by Dr. Robert M. Nash, Dr. Rudolf Otrusnik and the caring staff of Terrace Grove and IRC Hospice.

A viewing will be held in Logan at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street on Friday, September 19, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3400 S. Highland Drive in Salt Lake City, with a viewing beginning at 1:00 PM.
