     Dieterich Horning was born say 1723. (Birth year estimate based an a marraige age of 25). He was the son of Niclaus Horning and Anna Maria Hoffman.1

Dieterich Horning was sponsor at the baptism of Marygret Gerlach in 1743 at Reformed Dutch Church of Stone Arabia, Albany County, New York.3

Dieterich Horning married Maria Margaretha Kraus, daughter of Johann Jacob Kraus and Catharina Elisabetha Nellis, say 1748 (Marriage date estimated as one calendar year before the estimated birth year of the first child, Mary Elizabeth).1,4

Dieterich Horning was enumerated during 1790 on the 1790 U. S. census for Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York as head of family Derick Horney. Enumerated in this family were: 4 Free white males of 16 years old and upwards, including heads of families, 2 Free white females including heads of families.5

Dieterich Horning wrote a will on 22 May 1793 at Canajoharie, Montgomery County, New York, executors Johann Dieterick Horning and Adam Horning.
He bequeathed:
  1. All just debts and funeral expenses be paid
  2. To wife Mary Margaret, if she survives him, his farm and his personal estate as long as she lives
  3. To son Dederich Horning, after his and his wife's death the 116 acre farm on Bowman's Kill
  4. To son William Horning 100 acres in Livingston Patent, recently purchased from Andrew Finch. He is to allow his brother Dederich to cut timber on this property
  5. To son Adam Horning 131.5 acres in Stone Arabia Patent on which he was then living
  6. To son George Horning 40 acres, to son Jacob 60 acres, to son Robert 100 acres from Lot 37 in Young's Patent purchased from John Hess
  7. To daughters Mary Elizabeth wife of Adam Flint, Mary Margaret wife of Robert Flint Jnr, Catherine wife of Conturman, Anna wife of Francis Dunckell, and Maria wife of John Hiller 5 pounds each. Sons Adam, William and Robert to contribute 5 pound each and the balance paid by son Dederich.6


Dieterich Horning died between 22 May 1793 and 19 May 1827.6
