Charity Hughes was born circa 1830 at Georgia.1 She was the daughter of John W. Hughes and Rebecca (?).1
On 2 December 1850 Charity Hughes was enumerated in the household of John W. Hughes on the 1850 U. S. census for Barretts District, Lumpkin County, Georgia as Charity Hughs, 20 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Rebecca (?), Mary Ann Hughes, Wesley Hughes, Martha Hughes, Amanda Hughes, Emily Hughes, Thomas Hughes, Lafayette Hughes and William Richarson.1
