On 5 October 1850 Joseph Dennis was enumerated in the household of Neal McCann Dennis on the 1850 U. S. census for Milam and Williamson District, Milam County, Texas as Joseph Dennis, 19 years old, birthplace of Tennessee, occupation of Farmer. Also enumerated in the household were Charity Hall, John J Dennis, Audly H Dennis, George Dennis, Maria Dennis, Mary C Dennis, Amanda Dennis, Mildred Dennis, Livonia Dennis, Sempheonia Dennis, Neal Dennis and Winney Hall.1
