     Carlton Mason Gerhart was born on 5 April 1894 at Illinois.3,2 He was the son of Herman Gerhart and Harriet M Mason.4

On 23 April 1910 Carlton Mason Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Herman Gerhart on the 1910 U. S. census for Ross Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan as C. Mason Gerhart, 16 years old, Son, single, birthplace of Illinois. Could read. Could write. Attended school within the year. Father born in Ohio. Mother born in Michigan. Also enumerated in the household were Harriet M Mason, Maurice Gerhart, Ethel Elizabeth Gerhart, Nelson J Gerhart and Wallace E Gerhart.4

On 22 August 1919 in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona,The Coconino Sun published the following: "C. M. Gerhart of Tucson, is in Flagstaff enjoying the cool weather. Mr. Gerhart is a nephew of J. C. Blake, a well known pioneer of Flagstaff, who died a few years ago and was a bunk mate of Clarence Durham during the war."5

S. census for 2617 East 7th Street, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona as C Mason Gerhart, 46 years old, married, was born in Illinois, occupation of Plant Manager in the Pacific Fruit Express industry, an employee in private work, worked 48 hours the week of March 24-30, 1940, worked 52 weeks in 1939, recieved $3800 in wages or salary income in 1939, recieved more than $50 in non wage or salary income in 1939, had not attended school or college since March 1, 1940, had complleted 4 years of high school, owned home valued at $8000, did not live on a farm.. Also enumerated in the household were Elda V Wachter, Elizabeth A Gerhart and Carlton Mason Gerhart.7

Carlton Mason Gerhart died on 1 June 1977 at St Joseph's Hospital, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, at age 83.8,3,9
