     Jacob Butt also went by the name of Jake.1 He was born circa 1808 at South Carolina.1

Jacob Butt married Ruth Collins, daughter of Thompson Collins and Celia Self, on 8 October 1840 Aydelotte in her Collins descendants book gives therecording date as the marriage date at Union County, Georgia.2,1

Jacob Butt was enumerated on 3 September 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for 85th District, Union County, Georgia as Jacob Butt, 42 years old, birthplace of South Carolina, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $2500.. Also enumerated in the household were Ruth Collins, Sarah Butt, Julian Butt, John F Butt, Jacob Butt and Pricilla Bruce.3
