Martha A Ellis was born circa 1837 at Kentucky.1 She was the daughter of James Ellis and Nancy Harmon.1,2
On 10 September 1850 Martha A Ellis was enumerated in the household of James Ellis on the 1850 U. S. census for Ashland Township, Schuyler County, Illinois as Martha A Ellis, 13 years old, birthplace of Kentucky. Also enumerated in the household were Margaret A (?), Harriet E Ellis, John R Ellis, Margaret I Ellis, Eliza A Ellis, James D Ellis and Samuel E Ellis.1
