Margaret Gerhart

Margaret Gerhart was born on 8 November 1822 in GermanyG.1,2 She was the daughter of Adam Gerhart and Sophie Elisabetha Zimmer.1 Margaret Gerhart was also known as Margaretha Gerhart.2

Margaret Gerhart emigrated with Adam Gerhart from GermanyG in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 4 July 1834; arrived in New York City in August 1834; and settled in Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio Also emigrating together were Sophie Elisabetha Zimmer, Jacob Gerhart, Adam Gerhart, and Daniel Gerhart.3

Margaret Gerhart married John Pfaff on 6 May 1841 in Washington County, OhioG.4,1

On 4 September 1850 Margaret Gerhart was enumerated in the household of John Pfaff on the 1850 U. S. census for District No 137 Salem Township, Washington County, OhioG, as Margaret Pfaff, 28 years old, birthplace of Germany. Also enumerated in the household were John Pfaff, Elizabeth Pfaff, Caroline Pfaff, and Margaret Pfaff.5

Daniel Gerhart was born on 10 September 1832 in GermanyG.1,2 He was the son of Adam Gerhart and Sophie Elisabetha Zimmer.1

Maria Gerhart was born about 1853 in OhioG.1 She was the daughter of Jacob Gerhart and Maria Catherine Seyler.1

On 2 August 1860 Maria Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Jacob Gerhart on the 1860 U. S. census for Salem Township, Washington County, OhioG, as Maria Gerhard, 7 years old, birthplace of Ohio. Attended school within the year. Also enumerated in the household were Maria Catherine Seyler, Daniel Gerhart, John Gerhart, Rosina Gerhart, Adam Gerhart, and Catherine Gerhart.1

On 16 August 1870 Maria Gerhart was enumerated in the household of Jacob Gerhart on the 1870 U. S. census for Salem Township, Washington County, OhioG, as Mary Gerhard, 17 years old, birthplace of Ohio, occupation of Helps Mother. Also enumerated in the household were Maria Catherine Seyler, Daniel Gerhart, Rosina Gerhart, and John E Shafer.2
