Jacob Gerhart emigrated with Adam Gerhart from GermanyG in 1834; sailed from Le Havre, France on 4 July 1834; arrived in New York City in August 1834; and settled in Salem Township, Washington County, Ohio Also emigrating together were Sophie Elisabetha Zimmer, Adam Gerhart, Margaret Gerhart, and Daniel Gerhart.4

Jacob Gerhart married Maria Catherine Seyler on 20 October 1842 in Washington County, OhioG. Theodore Schnisser officiated.5
