James A Chowning married Sarah Browning, daughter of Browning and Redding, ??,, on 26 July 1834 in Henry County, KentuckyG.3,1

James A Chowning was enumerated on 16 August 1850 as head of household on the 1850 U. S. census for Henry County, KentuckyG, as James Chowning, 50 years old, birthplace of Virginia, occupation of Farmer, value of real property $2595. Also enumerated in the household were Sarah Browning, Mary T Chowning, John Chowning, and James Reed Chowning.4

James A Chowning died on 19 December 1853, at age ~52, in Henry County, KentuckyG.1
